Rating.
On
top of its other overheads the last thing a business needs
is to be paying too much in business rates.
We are routinely requested by clients to consider whether the rateable value applied to their property by the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) is fair, or whether grounds may exist for a reduction.
The rating revaluation is cyclical and appeals may be lodged following the introduction of a new list but this does not mean the rateable value cannot be challenged at other times, for example, if there has been a material change of circumstances at or near the property. Appeals against a rating entry should always be undertaken by a qualified chartered surveyor.
